The spice of life......no, really.

If you know me you know that I have a fondness for all things food. I like to grow it, cook it, share it, read about it, eat it, and even take pictures of it. After being given a book called "Everything I Ate" by Tucker Shaw (which came from a shelf somewhere in the Xavier bookstore and thankfully made its way into my hands) I was inspired to share a peek into my life not so much through words or candid shots of me with friends rather through the sometimes simple and sometimes elaborate gastronomic goodness that I experience each day. I am a rookie so not every meal makes it on camera but it's a start. Food brings people together. Food keeps culture and family tradition alive. Food is often tangible evidence of human desires and weaknesses. Food tells a story...and this happens to be a "piece" (ha) of mine. Indeed, I am what I eat.

Sunday February 6, 2011

4pm: WHAT A GEM! My mom found these at the store for me to snack on while I cooked our Super Bowl feast. Basically they are cinnamon twists (like from Taco Bell) but hey....I love churros. This will have to do until....CHILE SUMMER 2011.
5pm: Usually I'm not big on buying foods that have to travel so far. But my aching heart made an exception. If I can't be in Chile, Chile can be in my kitchen <3
630pm: Just in time for kickoff...potato salad, spinach artichoke dip, ginger ale/lemonade/strawberry punch, cheese sticks (Stefan), potato skins...
...Vegetarian Skyline dip (cream cheese, tomatoes with chilies, black beans, a dusting of Cinci spices, and cheese), biscuits with cheese or ham inside annnnnd my first attempt to make a homemade bloomin onion complete with homemade dip! Here's to great commercials and the Steelers not winning!
